This quarterly class is a gathering of women commonly on the path of yoga in the spirit of research and sharing wisdom, led by Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT) Joy Wasson.  Approach your practice in a way that honors and celebrates an ever-changing and maturing body, mind, and spirit.

Saturday, March 19, 2022.  12-2 pm. “The Benefits of Inversions for Women”.   

Just as the Spring Equinox dawns, so too does the Worm Moon.  The Full Moon in March will occur on Friday, March 18th @ 3:17 a.m. Eastern.  Also nicknamed the Crow Moon, Crust Moon, Sap Moon, Sugar Moon, and the Lenten Moon, this Full Moon is a harbinger of Spring. 


For this quarterly practice, we will focus on "The Benefit of Inversions for Women". We will practice safe, supported inversions (and comparable alternatives) for various ailments or conditions that women experience including post-menses recovery, lower and higher energy levels, poor circulation, headaches, stomach aches, insomnia, etc..  Learn when inversions should be avoided, what are good substitutions, and why supported inversions are used to prepare for pranayama (extension/retention of the breath).  Experience the effects from utilizing this family of poses to honor your monthly cycle, daily cycles of energy, and issues that arise from imbalance.

Named for the summer regrowth of deer and elk antlers shed in the winter, the Buck Moon rises on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 2:37 pm Eastern. This month's moon is also called the Thunder Moon, Hay Moon, Mead Moon, and the Rose Moon. This is also a Supermoon, with the Moon reaching its closest point to Earth at 5:08 pm Eastern.

Yoga focuses on the body from the inside.  It centers on strength, flexibility, balance, and breath rather than on appearance.  Learn how each pose lives within your unique body and how props can help us adjust poses to fit our body’s needs.

Reap what you have sown as the Harvest Moon rises on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 5:59 am Eastern. This is also called the Corn Moon, Fruit Moon, Barley Moon, and Hungry Ghost Moon. The Fall Equinox is on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 9:04 pm Eastern.


Practicing during common ailments:  Both standing and seated forward bends soothe and calm your mind and nervous system, pacify your adrenal glands, elongate your spine, and encourage you to surrender completely.  We will practice, speak the truth about our experiences, and learn how yoga can help during times of transition.

Saturday, November 12th, 2022. 2-4 pm.  “Strengthening Your Heart.”

The Frost Moon is a good reminder to hunker down for the coming winter.  In 2022, the Frost Moon (also called the Beaver Moon and the Snow Moon) will be at its brightest on Tuesday, November 8 at 6:02 am Eastern.  This year the Frost Moon features yet another total lunar eclipse, which will be at its peak at 5:59 am Eastern on the same morning.


The Class theme will be "Strengthening your heart".  In particular those suffering from low or high blood pressure will be guided with poses specifically for them while others will learn to open their heart in asana literally and figuratively.
